This course seeks to equip learners to apply appropriate actions according to organisational procedures to deter undesired outcomes.

The Course Consists of 3 Learning Units:
• LU 1: Prepare for work activities
• LU 2: Deter threatening behaviour through visible security presence
• LU 3: Deal with disorderly conduct and threatening behaviour

Learners need to attain at least  75% attendance and pass the course to obtain the Statement of Attainment (SOA)

Minimum Entry Requirements


  • Learners should be between 25 to 65 years of age and should have a basic orientation towards providing security services and already have some experience in the security industry.
  • Learners should have completed primary school education.
  • Learners should be able to

– Listen to, speak read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3;

– Use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 3; and

– Possess basic computer skills

Individuals who do not meet the entry requirements will be subjected to interview before acceptance into the course.
