Course Objectives


Through this course, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform security screening duties. They will also be able to operate security equipment such as Hand-Held Metal Detector (HHMD) and Walk-Through Metal Detector (WTMD) effectively and efficiently.

The Course Consists of 6 Learning Units:
• LU 1: Prepare for security screening duty
• LU 2: Prepare person for security screening
• LU 3: Perform security screening of person
• LU 4: Conduct manual screening
• LU 5: Conduct manual search bag
• LU 6: Conclude security screening activities

Learners need to attain at least  75% attendance and pass the course to obtain the Statement of Attainment (SOA)

Minimum Entry Requirements


  • Learners are expected to be between 21 to 65 years of age and come from a diverse background. Most of them should have a basic orientation towards providing security services and already have some experience in the and already have some experience in the security industry. A minority of the learners may be new to the industry or are considering a position in the industry.
  • Learners should be able to listen to, speak, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System  equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3;

– Use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 3; and

– Possess basic computer skills.

Individuals who do not meet the entry requirements will be subjected to interview before acceptance into the course.
